A Complete Tour of Anna Texas!

Have you been wondering whether or not Anna, Texas is a good place to live?

Anna is a great place to live! All of the new construction and ongoing developments make it a hot spot for families.

Today, I’m going to take you through the city and even stop by some model homes so you can get a sense of what the real estate looks like.

We call Anna the sister city of Melissa, the town located just south of this one. Legend has it that Anna and Melissa were sisters of a railroad tycoon who named the two towns after them. Whether or not this is true is up for debate.

But as you can see, this is a smaller town. But it is growing.

Anna is a city in Collin County, Texas, United States. It is located about 45 miles north of Dallas. Its population is
around 27,000 people. It is expected to reach a population of 84,000 by 2030.

History

Founded in 1867 by John F. Greer, Anna grew into a bustling trade hub with the arrival of the railroad in 1873. By 1883, the town had a population of 20, two stores, a gristmill, and a church. Fast forward to today and Anna is finally starting to break out of its shell, nearly doubling in population in the last seven years.

Schools

Remember that Anna, Texas is a pretty small town. So there aren’t going to be as many school options. That being said, there is one main high school, which has a beautiful stadium so athletes will find this high school very attractive.

Now here’s a little bit more about the school district and high school:

Anna ISD

Anna ISD is the school district for the city of Anna and it has 4 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

Anna High School

Anna High School is the only high school school in Anna, and with the way things are going, it won’t be the only one for very long. The school currently has around 1200 students and has a B+ rating from niche.com

Jobs & Economy

Let’s talk economy.

Because this is a smaller country town, the largest employers are the city and the school district. If you are working in one of the bigger cities, you’ll have around a 40 minute drive to Frisco and Plano, and a 20 minute drive to McKinney.

Anna has a median household income of around $90,000.

Shopping/ Things to Do

Let’s make sure we understand each other. Anna is not one of those cities where you will have a lot of things to do.That being said, there are still some options for people that want to get out of the house.

You could head to BarnHill Vineyard, go to one of the several parks in the city, or catch a game at the impressive Allen High School Football Stadium.

If none of those suit you, then you could always take a drive to one of the larger cities such as McKinney, Frisco or Plano.

BarnHill Vineyard

BarnHill Vineyard is a vineyard and live music venue on the outskirts of the city that hosts concerts, holiday activities, and wine-tasting. They have events that are both family friendly and adult-only.

Hurricane Creek Country Club

For golf lovers, Anna has Hurricane Creek Country Club. This is a private course and membership is by invitation only but if you are able to find a sponsor, you can come here to play some rounds on a beautiful course.

Parks & Rec
